I am really curious. Why would you want to have done that, with your very first character? Is the game too hard?

Okay. Here is my take.
I have 3 characters, all 3 have done ever mission with NO running and each time it was PUGs.

Running is damaging to others because when you get to Ember Light Camp, nobody wants to do anything after that. Plus, anything that is a bonus is NOT done and you end up typing "LFG for bonus" about a million times.

Running is damaging to person being run, they could have used the money and experience. From my experiences, missions give the best gold items. Plus, ascension at low levels means that you don't get the bonus exp over level 20. If you want to buy skills, you cannot because of the lack of experience (in exp points AND knowledge of what skills work together).

I am still, TO THIS Day, after 9 months of playing...experimenting with builds that suit me without incorporating the heavily used nuker/tank/battery concept as the core of my builds. I still do missions, just as a guide, not as a runner and I can tell you all people do is grab templates online. I can't tell you how many iway w/r's there are in pve, or you would die laughing.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the possibility of all the current runners going over to Factions and running people there. If you are in fact able to bring a Prophecies Campaign character to Cantha, there will be a huge rush of rushers, and it will be extremely hard to get a non-running PUG together...

ANet is still formed up of humans. They wouldn't ban all forms of running. Scammers are the ones who are banned. And today's society, there are many of such. Meaning many bans. I do not mind running if someone is on their fourth PvE character or something. I DO mind when I see lvl 8 newbies hiring people to run them to drok's. That messes up the very balance of nature.

Unless they changed the Player-Anet agreement stating the terms of bans or Running broke the rules all along. This isn't jucticified action.

P.S. Wait do you mean anyone running for money (which isn't justiciftied) or peopel involved in scams (which is).

I don't care if they are or not, I quit running for cash a long time ago because of the scammers, but if they're making it harder Good Job a-net I like a challange when running.

Running is good, saves time for theintelligent player, blah blah, you get suspended[not banned] for scamming on runs, not doing runs.

I know as soon as faction's comes, I'm grabbing my ranger, holy veiling it up, going to /A, buying 'Dash', and chaining escape, dash and dodge until I reach the end of the world. And I'll bring any of my friends with me, if they need!

This is really the only problem I have with running. Because this is a game, I think that people can do whatever they want within the rules of the game. If people want to spend their time running or farming, we should let them... to a point.

Lately I have been trying to get my other two characters through some of the missions and quests, and I have found it extremelly hard to find groups unless you are willing to wait in the town / outpost for 30+ minutes. In some areas, the only groups being formed were going to run through the mission.

Of course people can always use henchmen or guildmates, but not everyone is part of a guild (or one that could do lots of missions), and not everyone likes henchmen. I could easily see a fairly new player get frustrated because he is stuck at a certain mission and cant get a group.

I don't see why it would be. It's an enormous timesaver for people who are on their eighth character and just want to have a fully leveled Ranger they can do things with (i.e. me).

Edit: Also of note is that the ONLY PERSON IN THIS THREAD who is convinced of these rumors is the thread starter himself.

Woot Woot

Now I have less compotitions for my runs. They cannot ban you for running. Its no where in the end user agreement that you cannot run someone to another town. As others have stated they probly scammed someone and got reported. Droks run is the most scammed run because they take your payment at snakes then leave. Now you have to go back to beacons and do the same thing over again. This keeps the market on going and makes them tons of gold for doing about 1/4 of the work.

It would be very bad for business if A-Net banned honest runner just for running people around. If they're cracking down on scammers, great! If they really wanted to put an end to running, the first thing they would do is block off the Drok's run. Until they do that, I wouldn't buy into all the "A-Net is anti-running" stuff.

As for running someone who's on their 2nd or 3rd character, it still hurts the person because they're not getting the experience of playing that new profession and learning the different skills of that profession.

Personally, I won't believe it until I see the announcement from ANet.

They've stated very clearly that they have nothing against a solo runner being able to travel through/past all the mobs in high-level areas. There is nothing wrong with being able to run solo through the exact same areas they don't want you farming solo.

I'm in Beacon's Perch at the moment, and chat is full of runners advertising. I'd have to say that it hasn't been banned.

Reply to post #26: Just soloed ettins this morning and they didn't seem to be any more difficult.

Heres a tidbit for you MOST people who get run are on thier second character having beaten the game with first or gotten significantly far with gameplay through missoins.

When i made my ranger i had him run all over the place cause i did not want to go through all the missions again i found them boring and monotonous. i prefer SF farming and now TOPK farming.

Please think before you post because that really was an insult to runners myself being one.
I am thinking about the runner here, btw, i used to do it dont assume stuff and believe it as fact.

You made a point for me here too..you can get run thru the missions. Point is, a low level can see the runners in a low level area, then farm until they have enough to get run to one part and so on and an so forth. It happens, as someone who posted pointed out that their FIRST character was run part way thru the game.

I know most people that get run are on their second/third/fourth character, how does this contradict what i said? Some of these people, being on their second and upwards character, will try and scam the runner, which is one of the points i made.

Runners that are honest get scammed a lot, i stopped doing it because it would happen almost every other run.

If you make a living of running then why are you looking for a runner?
I'm sure you can find a way to run yourself.

So true!

I spent the week making my way from Anmoon Oasis to Droknars (playing the game), this should have only taken me a couple of sessions at the most, it took seven or so!

Why?

Well often in either augary/dragons lair you had to wait for at least 30 mins to pick up a group, once you finally picked up a group, it took about 10 mins into the mission to realise that your group stinks, back to outpost! For example at the dragons lair, with one facet to go, for some reason the team decides to split up and we get mauled, despite me drawing a path, calling the target, and asking everyone to keep within party! Okay, i'm new to this, with little patience I would walk away from the game completely, why, because of runners!

Runners promote a two tier system, newbies and elites, while many impatient newbies (trust me, they are a majority) ask for runs, flooding high level areas with inexperienced players who only care about ascension, or getting max armour from droks! This ruins it for others as PUG's tend to be quite poor later on, getting a good one is a lottery. This keeps the elitists safe by forcing a skills gap between new players and experienced players! IMHO there is no need for a passage from Beacons to droks, people should get to droks through skill, and can easily map to locations there after! For those that use the "but it's my second character, I don't need to do missions again" arguement, I ask you what exactly are you learning about your new character by running. You potentially are missing out in any developments and changes to AI, mission difficulty that may add to your experience! There's only one word to describe those that believe they know everythg, arrogant!. Remember GW is meant to be a co-operative game, teamwork, i'm sure somebody helped you once, return the favour instead of pursuing your own self interests, you never know you might make another friend!
